In the mountain area between the Kusatsu Hot Spring Pass and Shima Hot Spring Pass, Sawatari Hot Spring Village lies still and quietly. The crystal clear hot water has velvety soft texture and because only a single bathing in it makes one’s skin pearly and smooth, it’s called the hot spring of beauties.
It has been told that there used to be visitors to Kusatsu for hot-spring cure, and yet they damaged their skin due to its strong acidic water. Then they visited Sawatari and its hot spring water healed their skin damage. For this reason, Sawatari Hot Springs are known as the healing and finishing spa for Kusatsu.
There is the hot spring source right next to our lodge. The fresh hot spring water just gushing out from the source is flowing directly into the bathtub. This hot water has been called as the soothing water for Kusatsu since the Edo period and you can enjoy the abundant beneficial hot spring water direct from the source at our baths.
There is a hospital that provides hot-spring therapy in this hot spring resort area. This fact certifies the good quality of the Sawatari hot spring water that has been healing many people both physically and mentally.
